Over the last several weekends, Peninsula Sports Medicine Group, in partnership with Sports Medicine Australia, has been running a Level 1 Sports Trainer course. The course was designed for sports trainers, coaches, administrators and parents on the teachings of basic principles of sports medicine.
With speakers from a background in Physiotherapy, Dietetics and Medicine, students were taught the knowledge and skills required by a Sports Trainer. These skills included the management of specific sporting injuries, sports taping and transporting an injured athlete.
The students now have the ability to assist in improving athletic performance and making sport safer for all which is a primary responsibility.
